DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES
ACHIEVING GROWTH
ABOUT US
After nine years as a community organizer, nonprofit office manager, and policy coordinator for several social impact organizations Cunningham Consulting and Innovation was born in 2012. Hakim Cunningham the Founder thought that it was time to take a leap of faith into business consulting. Having a solid background in nonprofit organizational development he decided to start Cunningham Consulting and Innovation, which is a minority-owned and operated small consulting company.
His organizing worked brought him face to face with some of the toughest environments as an activist in Boston. He realized that organizations approached working with communities of color from the wrong perspectives. Instead of nonprofits working with neighborhoods to develop the necessary neighborhood infrastructure to empower it's grassroots leaders. Organizations were wasting precious money and time on non-value adding activities that zapped the life out of their membership, staff and interns.
Hakim decided that there was a better way to get results. From social impact investing to cooperative economies there are some best practices that have been working in the U.S. He decided to use his organizing skills to start changing the industry for the better. His work also introduced him to some great colleagues that now make up his ad-hoc project-based staff of Cunningham Consulting and Innovation.
Hakim saw first hands some of the harsh realities of poverty and low educational attainment and the way that it could stunt a persons development and opportunities. He has devoted his life to improving the way nonprofits and corporations serve communities of color with a race, equity and equality lens. Cunningham Consulting and Innovation helps them to become more client centric and compassionate about the true needs that are being overlooked.
Cunningham Consulting and Innovation has worked with small to medium-size organizations with budgets ranging from 500k - 4 million helping them to design and execute full-day retreats and workforce development workshops and staff trainings that engage and empower clients and staff.
His approach helps companies effectively meet the ever changing needs of a 21st century organization working in today's knowledge economy. While simultaneously addressing their corporate social responsibility benchmarks in a realistic manner.
A seasoned meeting facilitator, workforce development practitioner, logistics and leadership builder. Hakim does public speaking and skill building workshops that have lasting change . He holds a BSBA in Entrepreneurship from Sawyer Business School and is working on his Master's in Public Policy at Tufts University Graduate School of Arts and Science.
